Draw Near

Our mission is not about being a theological or informational blog. Some concepts and insights will never make it into the archives of this project. Our mission is simply to equip believers to live in freedom.

How do we do this? We guide individuals in a daily pursuit of God’s presence and truth through his word.

Draw Near To God

At the heart of this method is the belief that God draws near to us as we draw near to him. James 4:8 (ESV) says, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” Do you believe that today?

Just because this does not always “work” the way we think does not make it any less true. There are times when, despite our best efforts to spend time with God and pray, it feels like a zero. But feelings and sensations do not define the truth. Our emotions reflect and reveal, but they also mislead and mischaracterize. What we experience can be an indication of the truth, but it will never be the only measurement of truth.

From Feelings Into Faith

A simple discipline of abiding daily is moving beyond our feelings into faith. Something shifts when we consistently come before the Lord despite how we feel. That means that sometimes we will spend time with the Lord and not experience much in the moment.

Even in what might be perceived as a dry devotional time, God is doing something unseen in my heart. He could be doing repair work on my inner world or training me in unseen ways, and sometimes the impact of what I was pursuing is revealed later in the day or week.

We never know what it will look like. God likes to keep us on our toes! Still, there is a deepening and strengthening of our walk with God when we believe that God draws near to us as we draw near to him.
