Only True God

Last night dreamt that I was passionately preaching the gospel spontaneously during a conference. I don’t remember much of what I said, but I remember something rising up in me to proclaim the power of the gospel. It was a moment of rejoicing, and I am so glad that God gave me the image of celebration.

The gospel is summed up in John 17:3 ESV, where Jesus said, “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” It is so simple, yet so profound. We have the invitation to know Jesus intimately and know God, the only true God.

When we find him, heaven rejoices. The parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15:7 ESV reminds us that “there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”

Can we rejoice in the simplicity of the gospel today?

Meditate on the reality that we have been invited to know the living God. He is the everlasting God. What comes to mind as you consider his character? What is stirring in your heart as you contemplate the incredible invitation you have today?
