He Remains Faithful
2 Timothy 2:13 (ESV) says, “if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.”
Last night our worship team led a set at a nearby church. During “Goodness of God,” I had everyone close their eyes. I challenged them to look back on a time when God was faithful. Then I challenged them to look back as far as possible in their life to see if there was even one moment God was not faithful. That meant looking back 50, 60, or even 70 years for some in the room.
God is a faithful God.
Of course, no one in the room could claim that they were 100% faithful to God. We need the faithfulness of God to help us in our unfaithfulness. When we see God being faithful, it is often despite our limitations and failures. This makes God all the more gracious and good as we realize he helps us in our weakness.
This morning I want you to consider God’s faithfulness as we did last night. Remember that he is good and that his love for you is steadfast.
Give thanks to him, and allow this recognition of his goodness to inspire you to be more like him today. I encourage you to get specific. Thank God for real moments in your life where his faithfulness pulled you through. Confess real moments where you were unfaithful. In this prayer, God will work in your heart to increase your desire to live a holy and faithful life while raising your awareness of his good to you.
Thank you, God, for your faithfulness to us.
