Meditating On God’s Faithfulness

Psalms 136:8 (NLT) says, "the sun to rule the day, His faithful love endures forever." God's faithfulness is represented in the rising of the sun. Constant, unchanging, glorious, unavoidable.

Psalm 136 contains a series of statements followed by the repeated phrase, "His faithful love endures forever." I would encourage each of you to spend time reading the entire chapter and see what else God would speak to you.

Abiding in Christ is about staying close to God's commands and remaining near to his heart. We do this by keeping in step with the Spirit (Gal 5). The beauty of abiding is its diversity. God is not idle. He is found at the scholar's desk, but not only there. He is found in nature, but not only there. He is found serving the poor and needy, but not only there. He is found in the place of prayer, but not only there.

All around us, God is moving and working. There are endless unique and beautiful opportunities to abide in Christ.

Today, I want us to see that God is in the sunrise. He is displaying his faithfulness and glory in the most fundamental function of creation. The sun will rise. God will give the earth the warmth and energy it needs.

Right now, I invite you to meditate on God's goodness. I'm sitting outside on the back porch with the dogs watching the sun rise and break through the treeline. There is nothing to say. I simply embrace his goodness and let my spirit commune with his Spirit.

Wherever you are, would you take even a few moments to set aside all other distractions and acknowledge that God is with you?

He is faithful.

Amen.
