He Gave Us His Glory
Romans 8:30 (NLT) says, “And having chosen them, he [Jesus] called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.” The message remains consistent: we are recipients of God’s glory, not by any work of our own but because of what he has done.
Whenever we struggle to find our place in Christ, it is often because we are trying to do a work that only God can do. Struggling in our own power, we can open ourselves up to lies from the enemy. He will try and rob us of our confidence and attempt to convince us that we were never really saved. His game is to make us think we are unworthy of God and thus abandon God out of fear and shame.
It couldn’t be farther from the truth. God knew the state of humanity. He gave his life while we were still sinners, knowing that it was only the power of his cross and resurrection that would bring us into victory.
Today we stand not on our own strength but under the grace of God. You’re here, right? God has chosen you. Even when we lose sight of the truth, God hasn’t lost sight of us.
Part of growing in our walk with Christ is learning to re-align ourselves when we get off track. If you feel like you are lacking today in your spiritual walk, I want you to go through this verse slowly.
God chose you. You didn’t choose him. He chose you.
God called you. Listen for his voice and respond. He says, “Come to me.” He is calling you to a heavenly destiny through his Son.
God justified you. The blood of Jesus gives you right standing with God. You didn’t deserve it, but God wanted to save you from sin and death.
God has given you his glory. Being chosen, called, and justified, you are a temple of the Holy Spirit. You are ready and able to walk in glory. Jesus wanted this and Jesus accomplished this.
Amen.
