Today I want to revisit yesterday’s verse. Psalms 89:15-16 (NIV) says, “Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness.”

I can’t get away from the part that talks about learning to acclaim the Lord. Clearly, living in the light of God’s presence is an ongoing process of growth. Even the best of us have to become people of praise and thanksgiving.

Remember that even the greatest wonders God did for the Israelites in Egypt could be forgotten. After their leader and prophet Moses left to be with God, they turned and forgot the works of the Lord and started worshipping an image of gold.

No shock and awe encounter guarantees we will know how to sustain a life of praise. We have to learn this practice.

Truthfully, the miracle of our salvation is far more splendorous than plagues and wonders. Careful consideration of God’s grace and mercy toward us should be enough to elicit praise in any situation, yet so many people live in bondage in the absence of praise.

We cannot untie walking in God’s presence from living in praise. These two cooperate in the kingdom of God and produce a life of freedom.

The word doesn’t leave us guessing as to what this looks like. To walk in God’s presence and learn to acclaim him means to rejoice in his name all day long and celebrate God’s righteousness. That is quite the challenge, but the reward and outcome of the grateful mindset is worth the cost.

I want to invite you this morning to consider for a few moments what it would look like to celebrate God’s righteousness and rejoice in his name all day long. Write it down and ask the Lord to specifically speak to you about your journey.

How has praise shifted your posture today? Leave a comment to encourage another believer.
