Philippians 4:19 | Every Need
Philippians 4:19 ESV says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Central to the journey of abiding is allowing God to come into our worries, fears, and troubles with his power and love. Perfectionism and religion keep us distant from God by convincing us that we must be put together before we think about encountering God and living daily in his presence.
Yet the opposite is laid out for us in the scriptures. No, not a mindset that says our behavior doesn’t matter, but a posture of humility that says: I need you.
Consider that this verse doesn’t carry much value to the person trying to live out of their own strength. This verse might be offensive and confusing to the one who thinks they have it all together.
Can I remind you that this is what Jesus invites us to today? It is his glory and riches that supply what we need.
Sometimes God’s help comes in the form of material provision, but most often, it begins with spiritual strength. God loves to equip us with the power to grow and overcome our challenges.
So are you worried today? Are you afraid? Are you facing an obstacle or situation you can’t overcome? Don’t try to fix it in your own strength. Lean into the arms of God. Let him supply every need. There’s no need for shame or lack to come in; this is the place where you discover just how much God loves you and just how much he cares for you.
Amen.
