Asking For Help
Hebrews 4:16 (NASB2020) says, “Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.”
Do you need help today? Do you need grace and mercy? Call upon the name of the Lord. Confidently come into the throne room of God. Come under the blood of Jesus. Draw near in humility. Enter with an open heart with love and desperation at the lead. Approach the throne to meet with the king.
He is the one who has the help you need.
When Sin Corrupts
The root of sin is often found in seeking false help. The enemy promises that the gratification of our natural desires will satisfy our souls. How many times have we let sin take over our lives and end up shipwrecked?
We need help.
There is no point in the Christian journey where we grow out of needing help from the throne of grace. The most righteous and holy believers you know are the ones who spend the most time at the feet of Jesus, asking for help and surrendering their burdens.
Maybe that is why Jesus says if you want to be great in the kingdom, you have to become a servant to all. Humility unlocks favor.
I will admit there is a certain level of religious success we can achieve on our own. Many people have faked their way through church. I know I did. But the result is a hollowed-out heart.
We need help.
Dependency On God
When we do Christianity on our own, it leads us down some odd and irregular paths. Any number of false ideologies mix into the pure faith. Things like sensationalism, nationalism, emotionalism, and legalism creep into our culture to pervert the faith.
Those who wish to break this mold must regularly visit the throne of grace. I find that the closer I get to God and the nearer I get to what I thought my goals were in my walk of faith, the more desperately I need the Lord to empower me and the more aware I am of my inability to do it on my own.
We need help.
Entering the throne room of grace is not a physical but a spiritual act. It is simple.
"Father, I come before your throne of grace with ________. I need your help. I need your grace. Would you show me the way and fill me with grace and mercy? I am here, Lord. I am ready.”
