Whiter Than SNow

It is snowing this morning in Southern Ohio. Maybe it is snowing where you live today. It is so beautiful that this morning we get to seek the Lord with many others from around the nation. God is good. When I looked at the snow, I began to meditate on the redeeming power of Christ. Isaiah 44:22 (ESV) says, “I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.”

There is a call today to return to the Lord. Return to rest. Come back to the redemption and hope that is available to you in Christ Jesus. I could not get Isaiah 1:18 (ESV) out of my head which says, “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

What was broken, stained, and cursed, God makes beautiful and clean. Can we just marvel at this today? Thank you, Jesus, for your redemption and love. Without you, we had no hope, but you make us new. You make us clean!

Today, we can all pray this prayer of King David. Psalm 51:7 (ESV) says, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” We pray in faith, knowing that Jesus has done what only he could do. He washed us clean.

I want to invite you to go beyond these words written. Take the time to re-read the verses provided. Maybe you’ll be able to look out the window at the snow. If you want, you can open your bibles and see what verses are around the ones quoted here. Whatever it looks like, I encourage you to go into a personal encounter with God.
