Return To The Lord

Today, I want to return to one of our verses from yesterday. ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭44:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬ says, “I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.”

As we go through life, this is a helpful verse to have in our hearts. Even the first sentence can become an anchor verse to stand against the schemes of the enemy. When we face temptation, shame, or condemnation, we can be ready with the truth that God has swept away our sins like a cloud.

He has done this! His goodness and his love have opened up the way for us to be free. His sacrifice on the cross and his victory over death justify him completely to remove the offense of our sins. Isaiah says our freedom was accomplished like the morning mist scattering as the sun rises over the horizon.

We are free!

There is one more part to this verse. Isaiah says we are called to return to the Lord. Why? Because he paid a price for us. I think it’s amazing that God would pay such an incredible price for your heart and still give you the choice to receive him in love or deny him in rejection.

Though Christ has done what was necessary to set us free, he does not force us to enter into that rest.

But he invites us.

Will you follow? Jesus is waiting for you. Maybe you have felt like he is distant lately. Maybe you sense that the Lord is off somewhere else doing more important things. Can you see the truth of this verse? Scroll back to the top and read it with fresh eyes. Can you see the heart of God reaching out to you and inviting you to come and be close to him?

Seek him today.
