He Cares
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Jesus is willing and ready to minister to us in our moments of fear and worry.
Can you hear his call today? He is inviting you to come and rest in him. If you close your eyes and breathe, do you sense his Spirit moving around you and in you? He wants to bring peace to your soul.
How To Respond To Worry
When we look at someone else’s situation, it is much easier to see how they should respond. When a friend is experiencing fear or anxiety, it is easier for us to imagine their solution is to give their fears to Jesus as it says in 1 Peter 5:7. Things are different when it is our fear or our worry.
Our fears are justified in our minds with a long list of reasons and examples. We have evidence for why we have to keep the mindset of fear, and we have a strong need to try and keep everything together. That is where the stress of anxiety really becomes overwhelming. Situations where we know we are at our limit but cannot stop are stressful.
In moments like that, casting off our anxiety seems foolish and sometimes very scary. When we look at an outside situation, we can see the benefits of surrender. In real-time, it is not so straightforward. We have to be sure that we can trust in the Lord before we make such a dramatic move of faith.
He Is Able
Yet Jesus is more faithful and capable than we know. In the moments of our greatest need, he is beckoning us to rely on him and give him our anxieties. He is wise enough and strong enough to handle our mess. His blood is powerful enough to redeem any broken situation and heal any wound.
We are invited to cast our cares on the God of the universe, welcoming him into the solution. When we cast our anxieties on Jesus, we get to be on the same team as the Almighty God.
Doing this may seem challenging, but it is actually quite simple. We can pause and breathe. Look at the situation you are in and the fears associated with it. Pause and breathe. With open hands and an open heart, name the fears and one by one hand them over to Jesus, inviting him to help you, heal you, and strengthen you.
