Come To Me
“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
I have been continually captivated by Jesus’s words in Matthew 11 when he calls all who will listen to come to him and find rest. Part of my story is frantically running from rest, filling every moment with activity and striving for purpose. As God called me to rest, I confessed my weariness and entered abiding. That changed my life forever.
I wrote “Come To Me” to minister to those who need to rest in the heart of God, but truthfully I wrote it for myself first. In a moment of neediness and weariness, I remember sitting down in front of the baby grand piano in our Illinois house and letting this song come out of my soul. The rest of the song came later, but these words were what I needed in the moment.
