There Is Freedom

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
— 2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV

Living life with Jesus requires faith, and faith is often built on a promise. To hear God’s promise is to hear hope and truth. Here in 2 Corinthians 2:13, we receive a promise of freedom. We even get insight into how that freedom will be released. It is through the presence of the Holy Spirit that we find freedom.

It is a relatively simple formula, and it is built on the fact that the Holy Spirit loves to bring freedom. Of course, we can come to church or show up to a worship service and keep our hearts so stubborn cold that we fail to get free. We cannot forget just how many people followed Jesus and never broke into freedom. But on God’s end, he brings us a promise of freedom.

Today’s invitation is to meditate on the hope of this message. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, you can look at a verse like this and hold on to the words, “there is freedom.”

Do you need to be set free today? Is a lie, a temptation, or a burden stealing your joy? There is freedom.

Satan likes to come with lies and accusations to break down our hope. He wants our posture to be downcast, so we no longer see the love of God and the life he promises. Today as we meditate further on this verse, let us be like David in Psalm 42:11 ESV, where he says, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”
