Psalms 18:30 | Flawless

Psalms 18:30 NIV says, “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.”

As I was meditating on this verse today, making my morning coffee, I started thinking about all the different times scripture gives the promise of God’s protection. There are so many verses about God being a fortress, shield, stronghold, and refuge. Is there even one verse or word from the Lord that denies this promise?

Psalm 18 shows us that God’s ways are perfect, and his words are flawless. He has promised to be our refuge and intends to make good on that promise. When you think about it, God’s message to us is actually very simple, and I believe Psalm 18:30 sums it up.

It is easy to go through life thinking that we have to make God want to rescue us. We might believe it is on us to show him we are ready or that it is our responsibility to preserve God’s truth. In reality, he does not need human support! He already is perfect and flawless. He didn’t rashly promise to deliver his people in some political gesture to win approval. His style is a little different. He says, “I will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14 NIV paraphrased).

I am curious today. Are you ready to receive this promise? I’m not talking about just believing in one particular situation at this moment. Are you prepared to accept that God is perfect in his ways, flawless in his words, and faithful to protect those who take refuge in him?

He has been keeping his word for thousands of generations, and he will never cease to be faithful. I challenge you today to lean in after this message. Not in a momentary devotional thought, but seeking to uncover an eternal truth of who God is.

Abiding is transformed when we can rest in the truth of Psalms 18:30.
