Psalm 34:8 | God is Good

Psalm 34:8 ESV says, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

For some reason, many believers (including myself) tend to stray. Sometimes the wandering is toward sin and habits of our life before Christ. Other times it is drifting toward complacency. Both are dangerous to our life in God.

I’m wondering when the last time you truly experienced the goodness of God was. I’m not talking about when something great worked out in your life. I’m not even referring to an amazing church service or moment. When was the last time it just hit you that God was good in a way that just made you stop and smile?

Sometimes I think these little pauses can impact our life with God more than 1,000 big experiences. Could this be the simple foundation of what it means to abide?

I’m not saying that walking in the spirit is mediocre. It’s the exact opposite! Walking in the Spirit means living on the edge of heaven. It means miracles happen all around us. It means the demons shudder and flee because of the name we wear as a seal on our hearts. It means we get to free the captives and proclaim that Jesus is alive!

Yet under all this is a simple and steadfast love of God that says, “I’ve experienced his goodness. I know it’s true. My life is blessed because I know the Lord.”
