Remaining Open Before God

Psalms 38:9 (NIV) says, “All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you.” Part of walking with God is opening ourselves up to him.

The psalmist demonstrates this transparency before God. His desires and his fears are all laid out for the Lord to see.

It is not that God can’t see by himself, but that by hiding ourselves from God we miss out on the wisdom and truth that comes from abiding. A healthy practice of walking with God requires us to confess and reveal ourselves to God.

I invite you today to examine your heart. What are you hiding from God? Why are you hiding?

When we open up to God he always meets us with grace and truth. We can trust him.

Amen.
