The Father’s House

In John 14:2 (ESV), Jesus says, “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” I love the way Jesus assures us that we are included in the family of God.

The Kingdom of God is compared to a home with God the Father overseeing all. There are enough rooms for every child. When we come home, there will be a place prepared for them. The heart of Jesus is on full display in these words. Can you see Jesus’s desire to reassure his disciples of the outcome of his suffering? They did not understand at the time, but later, when they remembered his words, could you imagine the relief and joy?

The message today is that God is always preparing the way. Even when our human weakness or lack of understanding obscures our ability to see the finish line, Jesus is working. Even when we do not understand what he is communicating to us, he is speaking hope and life.

And he speaks that life to all.

Paul teaches us in Ephesians 2:17-18 (ESV), saying, “And he [Jesus] came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.”

The hope of the gospel is that those who were near to God (the Jews) and those who were far (the gentiles) could enter the family of God through the Holy Spirit. Right now, we have the exact same invitation from God. His Spirit is leading us to the Father. A father who has a house big enough for all of us.

Let the Spirit lead you to the heart of the Father today.

Amen.

Beyond just reading these prepared words, we encourage you to meditate on the provided scriptures and find other verses around these passages to ponder. As you do so, God will give you deeper insight and revelation. Be blessed!
