God’s Attention
This morning while I made my cup of Aeropress coffee, my mom was in the kitchen getting ready for Thanksgiving and listening to the audio Bible. I overheard this verse, and somehow the words were deposited in my heart.
When I sat down to prepare, I flipped open my Bible and started asking the Lord what he had for today. These words came to mind, so I searched them online. When I found the verse, I looked over to my Bible to discover I had already flipped open to the page containing this verse!
Sometimes you have to notice the little things God does to affirm us.
Psalm 34:15 (ESV) says, “The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.” God’s word is so amazing. I needed this promise today.
Thanksgiving is typically a day of reunions. We might be seeing some people we do not regularly see. How will that affect us today? What would shift if you understood that God is putting his attention on you today?
Relationships
Sometimes people misunderstand us and challenge our way of life. If you are obediently on the path God has called you to walk, then know that his eyes are on you, and he is listening for your prayers.
I pray that today is a day full of joy and unity, but the truth is that many of us are bringing together a mess that we might not know how to handle. God is with you.
Maybe on the outside we make it look like we are not bothered by the tension of gathering family, but on the inside, we have anxiety. A relationship that was in good condition last year could have changed this year. Maybe political, social, religious, or ideological differences are growing more polarized than before. God knows.
God With US
God’s presence and help are available in the massive trials as well as in the tiny interpersonal conflicts. He abides in us today. I want to challenge you to hold onto the truth that God’s attention is fixed on you today. Do not go into today (or any other day) and try to do it in your own strength.
What if God gave you a supernatural capacity to handle the stress, relationships, and work involved in a big day like today? What if he also showed you how to see others through his eyes, giving you the ability to overlook misunderstandings or offenses? What if he gave you the humility and wisdom to show honor and love to those around you in a brand new way?
It starts today with knowing that God is with you and he sees you.
I know you have a thousand things to accomplish today, but I encourage you to take a couple of minutes and re-read our verse, and center yourself on the truth that God is with you today.
You are one of his righteous children, so walk with him today.
I did not have the space to go deeper into righteousness today. If you are struggling to feel like you are righteous, I encourage you to visit these past prompts and seek the Lord. Blessings!
