Psalms 18:1 | Lord, My Strength

Psalms 18:1 NIV says, “I love you, Lord, my strength.”

I believe these are precious words to the ears of God. They aren’t complex or overly creative, but saying them with a pure heart is the ultimate destination of the life of abiding on this earth.

Abiding is about more than expanding knowledge or insight about God. It is also about growing in depth with the simple foundational aspects of our faith.

I love how in our journey with God, the simple truth of the gospel never gets stagnant. The fact that God is good will continue to amaze us for the rest of our lives. The gift of God’s strength working within us will only become more evident as we move through seasons of highs and lows.

What I’m saying is don’t underestimate the power of a simple prayer. Don’t overlook the significance of the ABCs of Christianity. While there are undoubtedly interesting theological discoveries to be found (and we should think deeply about our theology), Jesus himself stated that the entire law and prophets say nothing more than love God and love others.

The invitation is to take this simple prayer with you through whatever you go through today. Let these words become a seed planted in your soul. A truth that never changes but is continually new.

Do you love the Lord? Tell him today. Let his strength be new in your soul as you learn to know him more.
