Pondering His Goodness

God is so gentle with us when he leads us. He knows the beginning from the end and still graciously allows us to walk through the challenges of life without condemning or rejecting us.

Psalms 103:14 NLT says, “For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.” God understands our limitations. Not only that, but he contrasts our fleeting lives on the earth with the everlasting love he shows us. Psalms 103:17 says, “But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children.”

When we fear the Lord, we recognize two things. First, we are weak and powerless compared to God. Second, God uses his greatness to show love and mercy. The mixture of these two revelations causes us to wonder in awe at what kind of God we serve.

Remember, he is the God who is good and does good, as we can read in Psalm 119:68. It is so overwhelming to think about how amazing God’s love is toward us. The creator God does not use his power to oppress and condemn us. He uses his power to love and encounter us!

He is so good that he not only extends his love to us but to our children’s children. Can you believe that God loves you so much he will show his love to your family long after you pass away?

Today let us remember the steadfast love of the Lord. Additionally, let us consider those that need to hear about God’s love. I’m thinking about our families, children, and grandchildren. Who needs to hear about the faithfulness of God today? Part of your abiding today can include telling your family about the goodness of God.
