PSALMS 25:4 | SHOW ME

Psalms 25:4 NIV says, “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.”

I love this posture of humility we can take at the end of the week. We need God’s help to move forward and live a life of freedom.

Something about the simplicity of these words draws out deeper things in our hearts. You’re invited to pray these words today, “Show me your ways, Lord.”

God’s ways are the best. They are full of truth and wisdom. They aren’t just morally good ways. God’s plans are full of purpose, life, and fulfillment. Remember that Jeremiah 29:11 tells us his plans give us hope and a future.

Asking God to reveal his ways puts us in a position of humility and desire. “God, I need you.”

Any time we confess our need for God, we stumble into freedom. What seemed like a doorway to failure becomes a portal to life. God says, “I know, and I’ve given you everything you need.”

When we ask, we receive.

Finally, we can ask God to teach us his paths. God has sent his Holy Spirit to be our teacher. So when we pray this prayer, God is already ready to respond. Submitting to the instruction of the Holy Spirit is the wisest thing we can do in our spiritual journey. To ignore his leadership is to welcome deception and pain.

Of course, we are asking God to do something he has already promised! So, in reality, our prayer is a confession, “I’m ready for you to show me your ways, Lord. I’m ready for you to teach me your paths.”

This invitation opens our hearts to God’s presence and puts us in the position to encounter his purposes in every moment of our lives. As you go into the weekend, let Psalms 25:24 be your prayer.
