Forgiveness
This verse also helps us better understand the fear of the Lord. Fearing God could be like standing under the weight of an unplayable debt, or it could be standing under the unbearable weight of grace and forgiveness. Where do you find yourself today?
All Things Are Possible
What Jesus was saying is that only through God can we be saved. The Young Ruler illustrated how impossible it is for humans to work, earn, or perform their way into heaven. He was the perfect candidate for religion. He was wealthy, well-mannered, and came with good intentions, but those attributes mattered very little to his eternal salvation.
Holy Distress
I have been thinking about the relationship between our obedience and God’s grace. We would all agree that we should obey and get it right the first time, but sometimes we miss out on the right choice. Whether from lack of spiritual maturity or the pressures of life, we all make mistakes.
His Pasture
I think that is why the psalmist reiterates our identity by declaring with gratitude that we are his people. More than details and facts, this truth of our identity is played out in a day-to-day lifestyle in the pasture with the Shepherd.
We Are His
So many spiritual questions are solved as we become more aware of the truth that he created us, and we belong to him. God created you, and what he made is a good thing. Can you receive that today? When we rest in our place as his creation, we rest in his peace.
That Day
We see these truths together, remembering that Christ is ultimately the worthy one and his gift of salvation flows into every moment of our lives.
United With Christ
Today we can remember that “God makes everything work out according to his plan.” Other translations say according to his will. This is a central truth about who God is. He brings it together when we are powerless to do so.
Good Friday
Today is, of course, Good Friday. It represents the passion of the cross and calls us to remember the power of what Jesus did for us on that day.
