Fully In His Presence
Psalm 16:2 NLT says, “I said to the Lord, ‘You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.’” How wonderful it is to be in this place of surrender and gratitude!
Psalm 16 is an excellent mirror. Do you see yourself in these words? Or are you far from this message? David declares the faithfulness of God, hears the invitation to closeness, and confesses his allegiance to God.
He reminds us of the promises of freedom and joy in God’s presence.
Yet all these promises are distant possibilities until we make the Lord our foundation. Every part of our life that we call “good” apart from God is a missed opportunity to live in his presence.
Of course, there is no condemnation for the areas of our lives that aren’t yet submitted to God’s leadership. The paradigm is simple: repent of the ways you have sinned or rebelled and continually surrender new ground to the Lord. He invites us to abide in his presence not because he wants to hoard all the control over our lives but because he wants to extend his goodness to every part of our world.
God’s ways are better, so when we surrender to his heart we always gain more than we lose. In love, the promise of Palm 37:4 NLT is given. “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”
The invitation is to come back to gratitude today. Find yourself in the words of Psalm 16. Examine your life to see where you are living outside of God’s presence. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you both areas of sin and blind spots in your journey to be closer to God.
Don’t settle for just some of your life in God’s presence. Lean into full surrender because, “in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
