He Has Done Great Things
Psalm 126:3 ESV says, “The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.”
Psalm 126 talks about the deliverance of God being like a dream. God’s breakthrough was so unbelievably good that it hardly felt real!
Have you ever been with someone when they experienced this kind of freedom? A radiance—a perplexed look of joy—covers the face of those whom God has touched. I can imagine the many people Jesus healed in the gospels just sat dumbfounded at the miracle they experienced. I imagine the man born blind just staring at the sky and the horizon and smiling from ear to ear as he watched kids playing in the street.
Have you ever experienced that kind of breakthrough?
We can read today’s verse with a mundane perspective and miss out on the greatness of God’s work in our lives. We hear that God is good so often that I’m afraid we lose sight of how good he really is. God is good in his faithfulness. The sun rises, and we wake up each day. He brings daily mercy. God is also good because he intervenes in our lives to bring us into freedom.
I want to call you to think back to a moment when God worked miraculously in your life. These moments are an image of the great things God has done.
He takes the darkness and turns it into day.
He takes the dry wasteland and makes it a spring garden.
He breathes life into the dry bones to raise an army.
He has done great things for us.
Ask God to bring to remembrance the moments you witnessed and experienced such goodness from the Lord. Pause and consider the greatness of God. Abide in that moment of prayer until your soul comes back into agreement with the goodness of God. Sometimes we have to sit in a revelation for a time before fully embracing it.
Perhaps you are in a moment where you need God to bring freedom and a breakthrough. While you won’t hear the stories of those reading this, you can pray in agreement with those meditating on God's greatness. Recognize that through all generations, God has been faithful. He has worked wonders among the people, and he cares for you.
Call on the name of the Lord and remember his goodness. Ready yourself for the light of Christ to shine on you because when God does great things, we are glad.
God is good. He works deliverance and miracles for his people.
