God is Active
This morning I had a thought that I believe was from the Lord. God is more active in my life than I realize. I think this is incredibly true and worth considering today.
My first thought is, what does scripture say about this idea? The first verse that came to mind was from Hebrews 4:12 ESV which says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
What about this verse from Romans 8:28 ESV: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
There are many verses explicitly addressing God’s activity and ability to influence our lives, but the greater story is told through the overall arc of the scriptures. Can you see how God works in all the characters and stories and how he wants to work in your life?
Religion tells us that God’s involvement in our lives is contingent on our performance and faithfulness. Life in the Spirit is built on the truth that God is working all around us, and we can learn to be aware of it.
As we learn to abide, seeking God in the secret place, we begin to see him more in all areas of our lives. Think about this for a moment. Obedience is mainly dependent on our ability to hear and perceive the will of God. This takes practice, intentionality, and humility.
God is doing it through us.
I believe that many reading today are hungry to see God more active and involved in their lives. I want to remind you that the invitation is open. I think of Jeremiah 31:3
ESV, which says, “the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.”
This is the promise available to us today. Lean into his faithfulness and learn to hear his voice. Believe that he is more active in your life than you know.
God, I am here because I need you. I need to know your love in a fresh way this morning. I confess that I do not know where to begin. Your presence and ways are a mystery to me, but I am learning to trust you. Right now, I ask you to encounter me with your love. Meet me with your glory. Speak your truth to me. I want to know you more. Amen.
