I want this image of worship to inspire what a life with Jesus ought to be like every day. Our hunger for him can become so deep and rich that even in the face of desert-like need, our attention gets fixed on God's presence. Slowly, our intimacy and connection to God build deeper roots so that we respond by looking to him in our time of need.

So if we have God’s phone number, let’s keep up with what he is saying and doing. Just because he is merciful and good does not mean that we should take advantage of his gentleness. If God gives grace when we turn back to him, how much more grace is available in the everyday connection?

We all desire for the power of God to rest on us, but Paul shows us that the doorway to living under glory is boasting in our weakness. In our inability to have power, the power of God is made most perfect in us.

If we become negligent in our spiritual journey, we will undoubtedly drift toward the path of least resistance, which is the path of clinging to our lives. Jesus calls us to willfully and intentionally deny ourselves, take up the cross, and follow him.

Of course, the case of the rouge laptop pales in comparison to the kind of challenges the writer of Psalm 62 was facing. We, too, face more significant trials and challenges throughout our life. I find that God consistently uses the minor difficulties and inconveniences to prepare us to handle greater adversity down the road.
