Consumed With Longing
Yet there is nothing more fitting to fill our thought life than careful consideration of the ways of the Lord. His rules guide us and reveal how his design works in our world. They are not rigid limitations but gracious and perfect guidances that open up endless possibilities about the life of freedom, righteousness, and holiness.
Asking God
Do you have a need today? Ask as scripture instructs us. Ask for wisdom. God will give it generously to you. There is no special prayer that unlocks God’s favor. Just come to him with a humble and open heart, and trust him.
His Desire Is For Us
When we become followers of Jesus through the confession of Jesus as Savior and commitment to follow Him as Lord, we belong in the family and are desired. The revelation of belonging to and being desired by Jesus is both the starting point and sustainer of abiding daily.
Abiding God
It is so easy to make abiding all about what we do to get the Lord’s attention or affection. Our devotional time and prayer time can become consumed with doing things for the Lord. Offering up our time in commitment to reading the word and lifting prayers to bless the Lord and cover others, we might start to think that these things are the essence of abiding.
Day To day
The Psalmist describes the lifestyle of living in God’s presence. Worship is not contained to a moment in time during a music service. It is not limited to your Spotify or Apple Music playlist. You do not have to hop on YouTube to enter into praise. Worship is an ongoing, day to day practice of recognizing the Lord and ascribing glory to his name (Psalm 96:8).
I Love Your Law
Psalm 119:97 reveals the heart posture of one who passionately loves God, shows compassion towards people, and radically obeys. It reveals the heart posture abiding in Christ produces: A posture of deep love for God’s Word.
Delighting in God's Word
Regardless of what we feel, God wants to infuse us with fresh faith to believe that it is possible to actually enjoy God’s Word and daily spend time meditating on it. To take it for what it says and honor God by obeying it.
What Are You Waiting For?
So often, when we look at the situations around us we see brokenness, sickness, lack, and oppression and we lose heart. Maybe we get to the point of faith to declare that God is going to do something or that he can fight the battle. Then God looks at us and says, “What are you waiting for? Take the staff and stretch out your hand.”
Freed By The Son
The beautiful thing is that God does not reject us. We call out to him from our position of bondage and fear, and he enters into our reality with grace, truth, and life. This is the gospel, but freedom can only come through the Son.
The Gospel
We are saved by grace and through faith in Jesus Christ, but our salvation and right standing are still in need of being worked out here and now. That is why the response to the gospel should never change. Every time we read, hear, or talk about the gospel, there is an invitation to respond with repentance and belief.
I Called To You
Today I want to open the door for the Holy Spirit to confront our perspective on God as a healer. I have a sense that this will look different for each of us. Wherever God leads you, you are invited to take a few moments and press into his heart. Maybe that means you cry out to God like in Psalm 30:2. Perhaps it looks like grabbing a journal and a pen and sketching out your thoughts.
Love One Another
The invitation this morning continues to be, abide. May the fruit of abiding be an observable, genuine, servant-hearted, and sacrificial love for all our brothers and sisters in Christ. Only then will the world look on and know that we are Jesus’ disciples (John 13:34-35).
Encountering God Through His Word
We need the truth of the word and the power of the Spirit to be holy. There are endless verses of wisdom and instruction in the scriptures. It is still easy to get distracted by information and lose sight of the informant.
I Lack Nothing
It may be hard to hear him at times because of the noise around you or inside of you. As you read the scriptures and pray, ask God to help you get quiet and listen. When you do, I am confident you will hear the good shepherd calling out to you.
Dwell
Part of abiding daily is learning to seek God in the secret place. We need to experience his presence in the calm and quiet, learning to gaze upon his beauty and goodness. As heavenly as his presence is, we cannot use the appeal of that glory as an excuse to turn our face away from suffering and injustice.
The Fragility of Life
The good news is that in the moments we come face to face with the fragility of life, we have the scriptures as the conversation piece and invitation into communication with God. They also contain anchors for us like 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 that remind us of the hope of resurrection and eternity with God.

What Belongs To God
It may be challenging if the place you are in seems overwhelming, but I am confident that we will only find hope and heaven’s solutions when we take the radical risk to wait on the Lord. In doing so, we are prophetically declaring that God can and will deliver his people.
He Increases Strength
Consider today that Isaiah is not just saying that God can restore those who need help, but that he does. God is aware of your needs today. His eyes are not turned away from those who are suffering and broken. He looks for those whom he can empower with his grace.
Motivated By Love
Jesus invites us to prioritize the one thing necessary. When we do, it will produce extravagant devotion and obedience motivated by love. Receive his invitation and remember his words from John 14:15, where he said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
