Proverbs 8:19 | WISDOM’S WORTH
There are many things to run after in life—worldly pleasures, money, fame, notoriety, knowledge, and education. Yet none can compare to the worth of wisdom in our lives.

Deuteronomy 7:9 | UNBELIEVABLY FAITHFUL
Deuteronomy 7:9 ESV says, “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.”
PSALM 85:8 | HE SPEAKS PEACE
Of course, listening to God is easier said than done. I don’t have a perfect instruction manual for hearing God because there is no one way that God delivers his messages to us. I do know that he speaks and makes himself known. That is the whole premise for our daily commitment to seek the Lord in his word.

1 Samuel 17:45 | VICTORY THROUGH FAITH
David had a different perspective on the situation. His logic was that if he could fight a lion and a bear, God could also give him this victory.

John 15:11 | Christ Gives Joy
Living in God’s truth means more than getting everything right. It is about entering the door to life and joy.

Romans 8:28 | Surrender the Outcome
When we come to the Lord at the end of our lives, will we stand on our accomplishments? No! We will only stand in the forgiveness that comes from the blood of Christ shed on the cross for us.

John 8:36 | Forgiven
When we come to the Lord at the end of our lives, will we stand on our accomplishments? No! We will only stand in the forgiveness that comes from the blood of Christ shed on the cross for us.

John 13:8 | Learning to Receive
I wonder today what God has been speaking to you that you are resisting. Have you been pushing away his grace because you are holding out on a chance to earn some Christian credit? Are you afraid of what Jesus might think of your mess and your problems?

Psalm 36:2 | An Honest Look
The path of the godly is the fear of the Lord and humility. When we have this posture, we can let the light of Christ shine on our hearts and expose everything that is not of heaven.

Deuteronomy 30:11-14 | God is Near
If God could say this bold promise to the Israelites thousands of years ago, how much more can we rely on this word through the Holy Spirit that lives within us? God has not only assured us of his truth in our lives, but he has provided the very presence of his Spirit to empower us to live in freedom.

John 10:27 | Follow Jesus
That is the call of the gospel on our lives. This is where abiding becomes even more powerful in our lives. God calls us to follow him and to live so close to him that we could say we are one.

Psalm 34:8 | God is Good
Sometimes I think these little pauses can impact our life with God more than 1,000 big experiences. Could this be the simple foundation of what it means to abide?

Galatians 5:25 | Don’t Hold Your Breath
This is the invitation we have today. It is easier said than done. To live every moment abiding in God’s presence requires a lifetime of dedication, yet it is not hard to access. There will be distractions, trials, temptations, and strongholds to surrender.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 | Why Be Thankful?
Finally, thankfulness is a sign of maturity. Our complaining, doubting, and bitterness are a part of the journey. God knows this. But maturity comes when we understand the goodness of God is not circumstantial

Psalm 1:6 | He Knows The Way
Aside from the very real judgment on the last day, I wonder if the thought of an empty life is enough to kick our hearts into gear this morning. Whatever cost is associated with righteousness is worth the price to live a purposeful and eternal life in the presence of God.

Psalm 1:5 | A Holy God
Verses such as these can be challenging to approach. Often I have considered more “negative” verses such as these as merely a warning or a hard truth. And while there is a part of verses like Psalm 1:5 that should be considered from a place of seriousness, there is also an invitation for worship.

Psalm 1:4 | Like Chaff
Setting aside our preconceived notions about wickedness, I wonder how this verse resonates with you today. When you examine your life (not just how you feel), do you see a strong tree or chaff constantly blowing in the wind?

Psalm 1:3 | In Season
Will you come to the word of God today? Will you allow the truth and power of the word to transform your life? Will you allow the Lord to plant you by streams of water?

Psalm 1:2 | Day and Night
We all have room to grow in this. But perhaps today, we can start turning our hearts toward God anew. Maybe we can read these verses and begin longing for greater delight and joy in God’s word.

Psalm 1:1 | Blessing
So today, we have a chance on our journey through Psalm 1 to meditate on the power of this calling. Don’t just assume that you don’t do any of these things. Invite the Holy Spirit to show you deeper ways he can transform your life.
